It was actually just a big ‘Calzone’ case used to transport large items (frequently lighting or sound equipment).

But it’s a better story if he went all Yo Yo Ma and wedged himself into music case.

When I first read about this I pictured the scene in Goofy Movie where Goof and his son sneak into a concert in instrument cases. Max was in a snare drum case, and  Goofy was in a cello case. Of course I cant find any clips or images of it online.
